I've been a bad, bad blogger recently. I haven't been able to muster up much enthusiasm after my Thanksgiving trip ended in disaster and chaos, as many holidays tend to do. On the upside, I did uncover some truth. I did discover how immensely proud I am of both my brothers, but right now it's my little brother John who has done the most growing. He's not little anymore of course. In fact, there were a couple of times I had to look away from him because I could not register the grown up I was seeing before me as my little brother. By the way, off on a rabbit trail, my brother was born Nathan Thomas Lightner. Around the age of 5, he somehow bamboozled my parents into officially changing his name to John Thomas Lightner. One day we all just dropped Nate and called him John. Looking back I find this so weird.

It's strange, our relationship with siblings. Mine has been tumultuous at times. All three of us had to have revelations about our upbringing, our ideologies, our faith before we all landed on the same page as adults.. Now that we're all over 30 things have become more synergistic. There's no pecking order or jealousy...just loyalty and friendship. I discovered on Thanksgiving day that my brothers have my back...and I have theirs and that's the way it'll always be. For this one blessing...one discovery...it was worth the trip.

Sorry to her your trip ended in disaster.
You have the great ability to find at least 1 positve in a sea of negative though, and that is pretty awesome :)
