My heart is skipping and there are tears in my eyes. You want to know why? Well....if you know me, you know how I feel about Rich Mullins. I don't idolize the man. It's just that his music and lyrics impacted me on such a deep level as I was growing up, and I developed a fondness for him as if he were my own brother or friend.

You probably won't find the news that he lived in Bellsburg, TN that exciting. You might not get teary thinking about sitting in the same clapboard church where he went for solitude and prayer.

You might not feel celebratory at the idea of eating at his favorite b-b-q restaurant (if it still exists). If you were my husband, you would feel a sense of dread even, knowing that you'll be kicked out of bed at 5 am on Saturday for what I consider the ultimate road trip to a sleepy, Tennessee town.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to email someone who knew Rich Mullins to see if I can get an address for his old house. Is that out of line? Am I stomping on sacred ground there? I'm sure that he wouldn't like this if he were still alive.

UPDATE: I think the church has been torn down, and it's such a small town there are no public records indicating his address or anything....at least not online. Boo. I'm going anyway.

I understand where you are coming from, Jennifer. Rich Mullins is my all-time favorite artist. What about checking public records in the town? Court records of the city or county? G

Love Rich! I believe he actually lived (for a time) in Richmond, IN. I worked there several years ago. It's not far from where I grew up. Good luck!
