My cousin Kaylee is staying with us for a few days while her dad and brother are whitewater rafting a little north of here. It's been good to have her here as we try to squeeze as much fun as possible out of the last days of summer break.
Speaking of fun, I realized as I was lugging chairs, rafts, pizza, a cooler, etc etc from the car to the lakeside, sweating like a pig and tripping over the hem of my dress that these things are never really fun for the parents. We think we'll sit by the lake, reading a book and drinking sweet tea when reality is we'll be eaten alive by nats while screaming at the kids to get closer to shore.

But it's worth it for the kids to have memories and we'll do it again.
