The Unknown

When my daughter Lydia was first born, I began to write letters for her to read in the future. I wrote about what she was doing, how dearly I loved her, and what kinds of hopes I had for her life. Just the other day Lydia found these letters and was delighted to read them. I was overjoyed to see this because she loved them so much and I had written them 11 years ago in hopes that she would, before her personality was completely known to me. I wrote about how to be strong and resilient, how important it was to love Jesus and know He loves you, how I would always love her unconditionally, etc. What struck me was this - When I wrote those letters 10 or 11 years ago, I didn't picture myself reading them someday and realizing that this baby had turned into the young lady I had envisioned at the time I wrote them. What more could a parent ask for?

That's so sweet. That's a great idea, and I'm sure you guys shared such a beautiful moment while she was reading them. I can't wait to see what a beautiful and creative woman Lydia becomes.
